Has anyone heard anything about this film since the begining of 2005? I'm extremely mad! I was happy about a Biopic finally worth watching (Besides "The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers"), and now it seems that this fuss was much ado about nothing. Does anyone know if this film has fallen through, or what's going on?

Oh yeah! I heard about that. They were even talking about auditioning people for the role of Graham and stuff. I think they were also calling it Gin and Tonic. And then I never heard of it since. All I do know so far is that there is a site for the movie but everytime you go into it it says something about coming soon. Here's the link if you wish to check it out:

As far as I know, its a dead project. The Internet Movie Database no longer has it listed as a project.

I checked on the website, and as soon as I pressed the "Enter" button, it brought me to a "Coming Soon-This page is under construction" page...Also, Hippofilms (the company that is supposedly making the film) doesn't even have a website! AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! Anyway, I really think that this project should be taken up...but I doubt it will :(

i have mixed feelings about it. it would be nice to see something commemorating the life of graham and a tribute to him being a fine actor - but only if it was done properly. if the production company made a right hash of it and did a real shoddy job, then i would prefer it to have died in pre production hell.

It was largely an idea of jim yoakum, who is generally considered an annoying man who claims to represent Graham's legacy. Once every ten years he releases a tiny incomplete bit of Graham Chapman's writings. And he sometimes turns up on message boards to start a fuss.
So that may explain why it never got off the ground.

that explains thing then. he's the one who edited 'calcium made interesting' isn't he? he's the self appointed person of the graham chapman archives too, yes? which is basically what you jus said methinks.
but he annoys me. how come he thinks he has more rights over those materials than, say, any of us?

I think actually he was appointed by GC's estate (prob. David Sherlock) to be the gatekeeper of GC's archive.

But yes, he does come across as rather annoying when he turns up on boards. Starts flame wars and is a bit of a troll, and thinks he can get away with it because he has a stronger connection to one of the Pythons than the rest of us.

And he even made an anti-Douglas Adams page at one time, because Douglas had spoken against him.

Actually, he doesn't press his own contributions that much. It's more the extremely shabby way of dealing with Graham's unpublished stuff.

*It takes him ages to get anything released
*Whenever he manages to bring out a book or cd or dvd, it is incomplete
*When people posted a script for a TV episode written by Douglas Adams and Graham Chapman he made them take it offline and started a flame war. But he never released it himself so the only result is that no-one except him can read it.
*If he would really try I am sure he could secure the release of a few things that would really be funny and interesting such as Jake's Journey written by and starring Graham.
*Instead he just turns up a lot on the internet, badly disguised as an old granny or something like that, and starts bashing people he dislikes.
