Eh? does anybody know if the cannabalistic undertaker sketch at the end of the Royal episode 13, when part of the studio audience rush the stage was staged or for real. Either way it was brilliant.

I'm pretty sure it was staged, and it was brilliant.

No.I cannot condone it.

well the easy way to determine would be to go into my "all the words" book, but I'm lazy, so I'll just take a guess, I think it was staged, they've done a lot worse and didn't ever get overrun by the audience.

I think it was staged, because only one specific section of the audience runs up, and if you can look carefully, in the other section you can see this guy waving at the camera.
lol.
Thats one of my favourite sketches btw. when theyre in the boat just before that.

Hahaha I love that sketch! Imagine being able to be in the studio audience for that part! Or any part for that matter!

Because the sketch was seen as very offensive by the BBC, the Pythons were only allowed to do it on the condition that the audience expressed clear disapproval - to make it clear that cannibalism is bad and wrong, etc. This at least is what John Cleese has said in interviews. A rare case of institutional meddling making a strange sketch even stranger - and funnier.

Really?? That's so interesting! I mean obviously it's somewhat offensive, but I didn't think it was really that bad. And honestly who would think that by watching a Monty Python sketch that the BBC condones cannibalism?

there are certainly plenty of litigation-happy idiots out there, so i can see why they wouldn't want to take any chances.
