Has anybody translated or tried to translate the joke when they say it in German?

Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?

It's just a load of made up words, it's not actually german or any othger language

"Always go to other peoples funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours."

(<b><i>For reference, the joke is:</b> Wenn ist das Nunstuck git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!</i>)

I got a German friend to have a look a couple years ago. Here's what they said:

<b>Wenn ist das</b> <i>If is the</i> (if you use "Wann", meaning "when" rather than "Wenn" which doesn't mean anything)

<b>Nunstueck </b> Possibly an emalgamation of 2 words - <i>nun</i> = now, <i>stueck</i> = piece

<b>git</b> That an English word! (German has the word "gibt" though which means "gives")

<b>und</b> <i>and</i>

<b>Slotermeyer</b> Made up word

<b>Ja!</b> <i>Yes!</i>

<b>Beiherhund</b> <i>hund</i> means dog but the "Beiher" bit is rubbish.

<b>das oder die</b> <i>the or the</i> (das is neutral version of the, die is the feminine version)

<b>Flipperwaldt</b> Another emalgamation of words: <i>Flipper</i> = pinball, <i>wald</i> = wood/forest

<b>Gersput</b> Made up word again

Put it all together and it makes: If is the now-piece (git) and (Slotermeyer)? Yes! (Beiher)dog that or the pinball wood (gersput)!

Okay, that's really goofy. It doesn't make any sense, but that is to be expected from something as goofy as that.

I suppose so yes, it would just be to easy to get rid of them.
My friend today brought a German French and Italian travel book and I could only highlight some very interesting things in it.
Like:
Frischgprebt Innereien und Käseplatte:
Freshly squeezed organs and cheese platter.

That's as much as someone of my calibre could develop. After that I needed to climb a sidewalk to recuperate, and get to the math test on time.[xx(]

That's really crazy. If I understood a ton of German and was able to speak German, I would talk German to my friends on MSN Messanger just to confuse them. Then when they ask what I was saying, I wouldn't tell them because I would be too lazy to do so. [:D]

I wish I could too. I want to get the lyrics for the Lumberjack song and the Albrecht Duhrer song that Terry Jones sang in German. I drive my friends crazy with the Lumberjack song but I wanna learn how to sing it in German. Although in spanish would be quite interesting to hear the traduction myself. I translated "Every Sperm is Sacred" one day in the car with my mom and she almost screamed "What are you doing mixing religion with lust?" so that taught me a lesson.
Sing Monty Python songs such as Every Sperm is Sacred in another language unkown to those around you.

Hey Eddiebaby, if you wanted to know, the words "Every Sperm is Sacred" in Spanish is "Cada esperma es sagrada". In German, it is "Jede samenzellen sing heilig".
