and not to forget that John's family name was originally Cheese

I know ! it's a pity that he's changed such a unique name to ordinary Cleese...

he didn't change it, his father did.

Quote:
John Cleese was born in Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset, on 27th October 1939, his father, an insurance salesman, thoughtfully changed their family name from Cheese to Cleese during WWI.

hmm. thats odd. I thought it was his grandfather.

Doesn't sound unlikely - makes perfect sense to me! i'd rather be called Cleese than Cheese - poor ole John would have got ribbed mercilessley in school with a surname like that! imagine his nickname would have been 'cheesey' instead of 'cleesey' :S

could be wrong, but i think it also says something about that in 'THE PYTHONS - Autobiography by the Pythons'... will look it up when i have time and try to remember to get back to you

Imagine: Mr. John Cheese - it would be too pythonesque to be true
Was there anything unusual about him? I should say not. Except, that his name means a little fermented curd and that he was convinced that he was being watched by a giant hedgehog whom he referred to as 'Spiny Norman'. Otherwise I should say:

The Visitors
Confuse-A-Cat Ltd
Olimpic Hide And Seek Final
Ministry Of Silly Walks
Thripshaw's Disease

Surprisingly no one has picked my last one in this topic before and I'm awfully strawberry about it!

i know i've already listed my five faves, but i've just thought about a 5.5! that one where the guy is bleeding to death and the doctor won't treat him until he's filled out a stupid form.... it is soooo true of the british hospital system!! that, and the scene from The Meaning of Life with the machine that goes *PING!*
