Wilco - I am Trying to Break Your Heart

I am an American aquarium drinker
I assassin down the avenue
I'm hiding out in the big city blinking
What was I thinking when I let go of you

Let's forget about the tongue-tied lightning
Let's undress just like cross-eyed strangers
This is not a joke so please stop smiling
What was I thinking when I said it didn't hurt

I want to glide through those brown eyes dreaming
Take you from the inside, baby hold on tight
You were so right when you said I've been drinking
What was I thinking when we said good night

I want to hold you in the Bible-black predawn
You're quite a quiet, domino, bury me now
Take off your band-aid 'cause I don't believe in touchdowns
What was I thinking when we said hello

I always thought that if I held you tightly
You'd always love me like you did back then
Then I fell asleep in the city kept blinking
What was I thinking when I let you back in

I am trying to break your heart
I am trying to break your heart
But still I'd be lying if I said it wasn't easy
I am trying to break your heart

Disposable Dixie cup drinker
I assassin down the avenue
I've been hiding out in the big city blinking
What was I thinking when I let go of you

I have the studio version included in the "This is the Sea" LP but currently I'm unable to upload anything as I'm on shitty dial up temporarily.

not my favourite lyrics, but the ones that are repeating themselves over and over and over and over in my mind...

You can't help my isolation
You can't help the hate that it brings
You can't help my absence of faith
You can't help my everything

Contrary to what those lyrics suggest, I'm actually okay. :)

I believe the actual lyrics are

You can have my Isolation
You can have the hate that it brings
You can have my absence of faith
You can have my everything

But I might be wrong.
That would be weird.
That song used to be kind of like an anthem for me...
Could it be I had it wrong
:(

No, sorry. Pardon me. It was I who was in the wrong. Maybe I adjusted the lyrics accordingly and subconciously to fit my mood at the time.

And who am I to question it really. You were the one who introduced me to that song in the first place. :)

Hmm. Interesting.
So you two are the kind of people who think they can't be helped when miserable, whilst me and Reznor on the other hand are the kind of people who like to share their misery

Ah, Ray. You would have listened to it sooner or later even if it wasn't for lil' o' Jinxy...
