It was a toss up between Magical Mstery Tour and Rubber Soul for me. I finnal picked Rubber Soul for Drive My Car, Norweigan Wood, Michelle, and In M Life mainly. The wole thing is just rounded off with some wonderful songs. I love the harpsichord bit in "In My Life". It's so touching to me.

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.

That album changed music forever.
And it also changed me forever.

Masterpiece!
one of those albums you put on and listen beggining to end.

2nd best Let it be. The sound of a band at war with itself.

another tough one. i nailed it down to 4 albums. i didn't pick SPLHCB because it's too easy a choice. i didn't pick Let It Be because while it's up there high in my beatle playlist it's not quite their best, but i love Don't Let Me Down, Get Back, Let It Be, Long and Winding Road etc. i very nearly picked revolver, but it's very slightly marred by Yellow Submarine which doesn't suit the album. so it has to be Rubber Soul, it's a classic album all the way through. other songs as well as the one's mrgumby4200 mentioned like If I Needed Someone, Girl & I'm Looking Through You...the album was pretty much experimentatal, first use of the sitar in Norwegian Wood also.

thing with beatle album polls is, i'm easily liable to change my mind at any time :?

"Revolver". The past, present and future of each of them is on there.
Still can't believe it was made in '66. And a tip of the spliff to Bob Dylan for the "enhancements" that altered their states.

I find it funny that there is more discussion in the Pre RS thread than in here :)

Revolver for me. The greatest album of all time.

Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band are my fav...
there are a lot of great songs, I love all of them, but as a whole, I think Sergeant's Pepper's is the One...
Maybe it's because it's the first one I have ever listened to, but it has something special for me...

I've been listening to it recently, cause my sister wanted to know which song was that one that went "nanannana" (turned out it was Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds), and this made me want to listen to it again...

Nice to see a Beatles related topic btw!

"Let It Be...Naked" was a whitewashing of a very rough bunch of sessions.
I prefer the Phil (Did I shoot someone?) Spector version, bits of George Martin's original mixes tossed in with some of the oldies outtakes to flesh it all out.
"Sgt. Rutter's Only Darts Club Band" was pretty good, too.
wait..................................D'OH!

Haha. Should I make a favorite Rutles poll too? You know, considering that they were the first, and the Beatles quite clearly copied them.

I enjoyed Love...
it was a present from my sister, and I think it's pretty cool..
A non Beatles fan would like it, but a Beatles fan would love it, recognizing every song, and listening to inedit bits and sessions...
Moreover the quality of the record is amazing,it feels like this fluid, shining music surrond you..

Some Beatles purists hated "Love". Just another way to make money was one popular opinion. Another was that they didn't like the mash-ups of their beloved songs. I'm not in either camp. I think it's a great way to introduce the unenlightened to the Lads and, for the most part, a nicely done job of remixing/remastering by father and son co-producers. There's one edit that rubs me the wrong way, but big f**king deal.
The score was for an aerial ballet show that became an album in it's own right and, for the most part, it works. I dig it. The 5.1 kicks ass. I wouldn't mind if all the old catalog was brought to this standard.

Exactly what I was thinking. I enjoyed Love alot, and the 5.1 really makes a difference. I am overwhelmed by the remastering of "I Am The Walrus", "Strawberry Fields Forever" was amazing. What, pray tell, was the track that rubbed you the wrong way, anyway?
