This is probably a very futile remark, but it strikes me how interesting threads don't get replies and nerdy ones flourish.

Or is that just me?

how do you classify "interesting" and "nerdy" threads?

Obviously it is a matter of taste but:

For me, nerdy would be naming your favourite line, actor or character. Obviously a lot of quoting will be involved which I find not really interesting because I already know the lines and if I want to hear them again I will play a DVD.

Interesting threads would be about things I do not know yet or upcoming releases or something.

alright...

probably why the "nerdy" threads survive longer is because the topics they present are easier to discuss for long periods rather than things that not many people know about.

you see, if it's just a familiar topic, like "michael palin is sexy", than people grab it and go. however, if it's something that requires rational thought, such as a thread about an upcoming event or such, it's not as easy to type and post.

my 2 cents, anyway.

Thank you for that meaningles contribution. I believe you are saying we can't discuss anything that happened in the past. Well we can't discuss the future either because it hasn't arrived yet. Conversation is getting very limited this way.

my brain hurts.

bloody hell - i have a 2 hour lecture on time travel and then i come home to THIS?! lol its like i'm having deja vu all over again!

i can't really complain about what anyone has to say on this because i've posted on both 'nerdy' and 'interesting' topics: yes, informative posts are interesting, but sometimes if you've got a quote stuck inside, its just good to let it all out and share it with everyone! sweet release!

now; i've just had to do an essay on Trekkies for (no i'm not taking the piss) for one of my courses at uni so i was researching stuff on forums and things, and they have heated debates over the most random and meaningless stuff like colour of someone's eyes for instance and they get really arsy about it which is really tragic (in my humble opinion - no offence if any of you lot are die-hard hard-core trekkies)

I think we can cope with a few recurring 'who's your favourite pythons' and fave liners etc just as long as we never start ww3 arguing over something as inconsequential (sp?) as the exact colour of eric's eyebrows, or the length of michael's sideburns, or 'is Jonesy's parting on the left or the right?' !!!!

tis all just good clean fun

Well all of the pythons hhave had other projects since. We all know Fawlty towers but fewer people saw Yellowbeard and no-one ever saw Jake's Journey.

Stop trying to provoke us man, you could post the same on any fangroup for deceased musicians, retired artists, discontinued equipment or history in general (Yeah what use talking about Romans they are all dead so no news there we might as well never speak of them again...).
