I've just read in today's newspaper that Michael Palin is going to make television series about comics from new countries of the EU. Can anybody confirm that? It is supposed to be produced by BBC.

well, I found something about it. Michael will be traveling around Europe and making short films with the most popular comics and cabaret groups in new countries of the EU. I also hear that he will take part in some sketches! the purpose of this is to let people ( in Britain, I think ) know how various are kinds of sense of humour in different European countries. or something like that...
but I still have no idea who's decided which 'national' groups are the best! I'm really disappointed because the chosen Polish group is rather average and it could have been people who are the BEST! BBC will show the series in July. so enjoy English lucky bastards!

In a recent TV interview MP said he chose the new European nations that have recently joined the EU because most people in Europe have heard the names of these countries but probably know nothing about the actual cultures there.

He didn't mention it being comedic, so maybe thats a new slant on it and will show him getting away from his recent travel-show outings now he's getting older and doesn't want to wash in a frying pan or sh|t in a hole on the ground anymore.
