Neil Innes is an enigma. He is a very funny guy but wrote all of the bad bonzo songs - Viv wrote the good ones.
A very talented guy though.

Ooh, I can't agree with that: granted, Viv Stanshall was a genius and one of the funniest people of the 20th century, but Innes wrote some beautiful songs as well, even if they're more like 'straight' pop/rock songs than Viv's stuff. Some of the best Bonzo stuff is by Innes (Equestrian Statue, Beautiful Zelda, Ready Mades, Hello Mabel, You Done My Brain in, etc) or was co-written by the two of them - and I didn't even mention Urban Spaceman!

He's the one that survives (not the one that dies of a heart attack)

I thought for years in the 1970's / 1980's that Neil Innes was a Python. As someone else said he "pops up all over the place".

I used to get Neil and Eric mixed up because of the fact they both did music.

I thought that Gilliam interpreted Robin's minstrel because I thought that was someone of the mains Pythons who did the minstrel, so for me Terry G. was who looked with the minstrel most. Did Innes do some character in some of the pythons films? Who?

Well, in the Holy Grail he played a monk, Sir Robins minstrel, a 'horse' that gets crashed by the wooden rabbit and a peasant. In Life of Brian he plays a Samaritan, and if you count along Hollywood Bowl, he plays a Bruce, Karl Weetabix, sings the Idiot song, a detective from the Church police and also a mountie in the Lumberjack song. He is playing the piano there. No parts in Meaning of Life for him.

I'm dissapointed. I thought the title of this thread was ref. to that annonymous attack on Eric vis a vis the Rutles!!
I'm gonna see if theres a thread about that and if not...
