Since October/November of last year I've been hearing of re-issues of all the Python albums (in batches) with bonus material and (at last) an official issue of "Hastily Cobbled Together For A Fast Buck"

These discs have appeared and disappeared from the release schedule for months - However track details and definite release dates (and why this keeps changing) are hard to find.

Anybody know anything out there?

Richard

if you go into any good music shop (or woolworths) and ask them they may be able to help you BUT most of the time they go either 'who is Monty Python?' (which really irritates me)....or....'don't they do films?' and give you this look as though your really stupid and they know more about it that you do!

Have a magical day!

MS

Yes you may doubt it, but several online stores (including www.101cd.com) had - at least until recently these discs listed for release - although they have now disappeared.

Record Collector magazine has mentioned them in their (usually very acurate) upcoming releases section and Andre Jacquemin has been talking about them in several publications

eg:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0, ... 46,00.html
(although this is a little over the top!)

There were others but these have all disappeared now.

Odd bit interesting!

These recordings have been edited into an 80-minute CD which will be released on October 17 by EMI, under the title Hastily Cobbled Together For a Fast Buck! (The Unissued Python).

That can't be right - that album already exists as unreleased title.

Anyway if there isn't a proper DVD set for the flying circus, why should there be a proper CD collection?

One of Mr Jaquemin's favourite out-takes is the Cheese Shop Sketch.

"It's about a cheese shop that doesn't actually sell any cheese," he said. In a rather typical parody, John Cleese attempts to purchase some cheese, but unfortunately, proprietor Mr Henry Wensleydale doesn't sell any. Eventually, an increasingly irate Cleese eventually shoots the shopkeeper.

wtf?

that's an offically released skit on several albums!

I had expected a bit more of a warm welcome than being 'Rubbished' on my first post Mr Sane! I understand the need to be cynical but...

I'm only passing on what I've found!

Even if the press are getting a lot of their details wrong (so what new), there must be something going on or why would Andre Jaquemin be giving interviews to the press?

Why does the fact that there is a bootleg out there with the title "Hastily Cobbled Together" preclude that an official album is now impossible? It wouldn't be the first time!

It is interesting to note that HMV Japan lists the first three studio albums as being re-issued on 6th March (as UK editions). They also originally listed "Cobbled Together" Before Christmas with a Feb release date but this has now disappeared.

Actually what I doubted was that anyone here would have real, hard, information. But to prove my friendly intentions I will post a link to the hastily cobbled together etc. album.

Truth is, we normal* fans can only guess if or when anything will be released.

IF  if a company smells money

WHEN  :?: :?: :?:

And most of the time the release is disappointing when it finally happens (bits are missing, censorship, only 30 minutes on a DVD...).

I'll add one more file to soften the blow a bit. This time from my own site.
This file is old but has only been uncovered recently and my therefore still surprise some of you:
Cleese introduces Live at City Centre (http://www.geocities.com/montypythonmuseum/mpkbfh.mp3)

Sometimes it only works if you save it to disk. ( :?: )
Michael the N. should pay attention because this was on his wishlist.

*Well, normal...
