I didn't really know where to put this stuff so I've put it here. I just recieved the Best of Monty Python 4DVD box, and on the Live at Aspen box there is most of the Python Night. For the people who have never heard of this:
In 1999, when Python existed for 30 years, there was (on BBC2) a long night to celebrate that, including documentaries and NEW sketches: Almost half an hour of that. The quality of it varies though it is fun to see them back at work. If you wanna have a look: Inside Europe buy Best of Monty Python, outside buy Life of Python. Both contain almost the same material, although it is a bit chaotic on the Best of version. Also missing on that version is the 'lost' MayDay sketch, originally broadcast between the second and third series, and when it was broadcast in 1999 for the Python Night, they filmed a new introduction sketch. This however, is NOT on the Best of version but it is on Life of Python version.
I will place a few screenshots of the new bits, but for now I would like to hear what you thought about it. As I said, I liked it but not everything was that good.

Yeah, I know that site, though it's a bit of a spoiler. You know the sketches after you've been reading them so it makes watching less funny.

Yeah, Gilliam is really wonderful there. Tomorrow I will place some screenshots. But you really miss Idle, indeed, I think he was there for a project or something? Because he really hoped for a reunion many years, would be strange if you would be missing from it. And of course Chapman, though he is wonderfully mixed in between.

It contains not just most, but in fact all items shown that night.

Problem is the sketches were linking the documentaries. It's BLOODY STUPID that you can't play all items in order of broadcast.

Another DVD f**ked up by the beeb.

(Also, why call it "Live at Aspen" if it contains so much more then just the Aspen interview? )

"Life of Python" is also a stupid DVD. The title is confusing, because there exists a documentary about python also called "The Life of Python" - but that is not on the DVD. And the second disc is just half an hour playing time - why not put it all on one disc?

But we have no choice but to buy one of them or both like I did. Bastards.

Wait, what was that about the Lost python video? It is missing from one of the two?

No, we've been sorting it out already. It's not included on Best of. And Graham kisses Jonesy in MayDay. :D

I am now VERY confused......

so lemme get this straight..... If i wanted to see the BBC 1999 python night thing....... since i'm outside-of-europe..... i would get a dvd called 'Life Of Python'? but not a sperate documentary called 'the life of python'?

:?

You could take this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004 ... ance&n=130

Life of Python, contains almost everything except for some little things.
