I think it was mainly black cats that were associated with witches - the only time i've ever heard of anything else, like a tabby or whatever being associated with a witch was with Mildred Hubble in the Worst Witch.... so i suppose all the other marmalade, tabby and tortoishell moggies were left alone to get on with killing mice; while the black cats were penalised for their fur colour...
I think it was probably *showing off random irrelevent knowledge* the reverse in egypt as black is/was the colour of life and white was/is the colour of death - but we're on about the british middle ages

this site is pretty informative!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2043

there's a reference to villagers beating up cats!
Quote:
There are also accounts of townspeople harming a black cat and then later finding wounds on a village woman (usually a suspected witch) that matched the cat's injuries

I didn't know that about Belgium!... actually I've really learned a lot from this one topic!

This isn't a goof, but one of my favourite parts from Holy Grail is the witch scene, when Terry J is asking the villagers how they can tell if Connie Booth is really a witch. John Cleese says that in one part of the scene, while the guys are thinking, Eric bites his sword to stop himself from laughing. Every time I watch that scene now I crack up when Eric bites his sword! I also love Michael in this scene because he looks like a little boy and I want to take him home!! (Well, I want to take him home anyway, but you know what I mean!!)

Well, it IS a modern suit, and in cinema it would be better visible.

For the rest this thread isn't really interesting, copying as it were all submissions for these films from www.moviemistakes.com
