Hello again...

Time ago, I read something about a special event titled "Monty Python meets beyond the fringe"; I read it on one of the little books from a humour movies collection, and I thought it was only a tittle and it was more or less a special TV programm, with the most famous Monty Python' sketchs..."

But reading "Monty Python the Autrobiography", I noticed that "Beyond the Fringe" was an humour TV programm... So, I suppose, "Monty Python meets Beyond the fringe" is a kind of special event made by Monty Python and the staff from Beyond the Finge... I suppose similar to "Monty Python in Hollywood"... ¿am I right? and maybe with new sketchs...

And if this is a kind of special event, I'd like to know if it has been edited... specially on DVD format... (and if it has new sketchs or mixed sketchs or whatever sketchs...)

Thank you all...

Greetings from Spain

It was a 1976 special, if I understood correctly.
Google for it.

There is a poster of it on my website; I have since
acquired the window sheet too, to appear eventually.

I always thought it was a description. Like "From the maker's of ...".

I see. It was an Amnesty international fundraiser. A.k.a. "Pleasure at her majesty's".

Well, you're in luck: there is a DVD of all these Amnesty shows called "the secret policeman's ball" (that was the name of the subsequent Amnesty fundraising shows).
Apart from famous Brits acting in sketches, it also contains a lot of eighties music live.

Beyond The Fringe was something Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Alan Bennet and Johnathon Millar we part of. They were a comedy troupe just like Python (I think they met at Cambridge footlights). They first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (hence the name).

They did stage shows in London and New York before going on to various things separately (Cook and Moore worked together as Pete & Dud / Derek & Clive before going carving out separate careers). They did a TV special in 1964.
