Being an older member I can say this there has always been silly and pointless topics in the time i have been here. But Python comedy has always had a degree of sillyness and pointlessness to it, and in some ways thats what makes it fun. I mean if all comedy was serious it wouldnt be funny or enjoyable and then would people still watch/listen to it? Fair enough you want to deal in serious information and there is topics that do this but i believe it is fun to have random silly topics in which any member can participate.

And like every is saying yes the same topics come up time and again but they also keep dieing. This is because there are new members and I dont think it should be reprimanded if they bring up an old topic if they want to discuss it. Either direct them to the old version or start a new one its simple.

I'm strongly against the idea of deleteing old topics as at times people cant access the forum for various reasons and when they come there favourite topics might be gone!!! I think all topics should be left not only for this reason but because it can be interesting to read over old posts and read different peoples points of view!!!

Well thats about all I have to say on the issue....... Oh and I'll bring up this point again. It is your choice to be here, it is your choice to read and post what you do, so if you dont want to read these topics dont read them. And if you dont want to be here because you have a problem sort it out or leave quietly without causing problems for the people who do want to be be here!!!!

I think spam and other "silly" threads should remain in the "Silly" topic and the other (more or less) serious discussions in the right topics.

Thats fair enough for you to say after being here a month. But I myself who has been here two years like to read over my old posts and look back to the good old days. Maybe after two years you will feel the same???

aye. i've been here almost a year. and i think it'd be weird if loads of old posts and topics got deleted. i mean, it gives the place a sense of history doesn't it...and nostalgia... :)

well there seems to have been a sudden 'influx' of spammers recently. but i cannot for the life of me think why... aside from the fact that this board is more popular than it used to be? :?

I've heard that spammers often tell/sell email and site adresses to each other.

So, once one spammer gets a hold of us, we get more... and more... and more... and more....

I don't think its going to go away by itself.
