Last year, Dutch tv programme 'De Wereld Draait door' aired something from Monty Python. The host said they found it in the archives. Then they aired a bit of it (one minute) because Liesbeth List plays in it, and she is famous in Holland. Now, the funny thing is that it never appeared in an episode of Monty Pyton's Flying Circus. I think it's from the May Day special that was made for Europe in 1973 and re-aired in 1999. The only copy they could find of that was a German version, so they had to redo the voices in English. This bit is completely in English (except for the subtitles) so I think we Dutchmen have an English version of it, but we don't know that it's lost. If you know more about this, please let me know so I can make the producers from that programma aware that they have something special in their hands.

You can watch it here, I've put it on youtube:

that looks to me to be very very very similar to part of the Jape sketch in Hollywood bowl, only recorded well before that was filmed.

Yes, that's right. They performed it there too. It's probably much longer thant one minute, because this is the only material they showed.

so that of course raises the question, is it a new sketch per se, or just a new found recording of a previously done sketch?

heh.

Well, it was written for We Have Ways of Making You Laugh but it never got on the air, so it always seemed like new material when they did it in the Hollywood Bowl. But now that this is found it shows that they had already done that sketch earlier.
