Anyone know the real location of the amphitheatre seen in the Life of Brian (where Brian sells ocelot chips etc)?

no clue, it was probably just done in a sound stage.

BTW: I like the everything I know I learned from Monty Python, I'm thinking about getting it changed into a poster.

I'm not sure where the stadium is but I'm pretty sure that it was not filmed on a sound stage.

I am but one of the eight score blondes and brunettes at castle anthrax, all between the ages of 16 & 19 1/2, it is a lonely life, bathing, dressing, undressing, making exciting underwear and I have been a wicked, naughty girl and I must be punished. You must tie me to a bed and spank me and afterwards, The Oral Sex!

Maybe the movie crew just built the ampitheatre out of wood and painted it all so that it would look like stone, because I guess that is what they did for some scenes in the Harry Potter movies (at least that is what was said on the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets DVD). I could be wrong though.

imdb.com lists Tunisian locations as:

Matmata, Tunisia
Monastir, Tunisia
Sousse, Tunisia

I'd suggest going there and asking around, but that would be silly.
Therefore, I do suggest either going there and asking around,
or --considerably cheaper-- a google search.

Let's see now...

Michael Palin's travels page
http://www.palinstravels.co.uk/book-2192
mentions a Roman amphitheater at "El Jem", Sousse.

Sounds good to me, and naughty as usual.

Definately a possibility...

What do other people think?

Check out the photos here http://user.it.uu.se/~rolandb/reizen/Tunesie/Elly1/28A_0074.JPG

and here http://meeuws.s2swebhosting.nl/Tunesie/DSCF0329.JPG

(especially the intact steps you can see)

and let me know. Its certainly in the same area they filmed in.
