Well done, Laurelin.

@ fogchicken: Ah, that would explain it. I remember John's father, when John was settled in doing several shows a week ('The Frost Report' and perhaps also 'Im Sorry, Ill Read That Again') , sent him a letter about some job opportunity at a law firm or something

Now, if nobody is posting a question of their own... What was the name of Neil Innes' band, with whom he wrote 'Im the Urban Spaceman' and 'How Sweet to be an Idiot' prior to working with Python?

Bonzo Dog Doo Da Band- if memory serves.
Staying with the Innes fellow, would it be presumptuous to ask if anyone can mane his tv show?

Well, it's been over half a year now, and it seems that unfortunately Notlobdog's question may remain unanswered (unless he's referring to Do Not Adjust Your Set, Rutland Weekend Television or Puddle Lane, although I do have a feeling I read somewhere that he did have a children's show he wrote), so I would like to post a new question:
Which member of MP was the first to utter the phrase "And now for something completely different" on the show?[/b]

Ok-I've waited 3 1/2 years and still no answer.
Hope you haven't been holding your breath for an answer or you will probably be a funny colour by now.
The answer I was looking for was "The Innes Book Of Records"

Pretty sure it was JC sitting behind a desk who uttered "And now for something.....

It's a common misperception that John Cleese was the first to say "And now for something completely different". In truth, it was first said by Eric Idle in Episode 2 to introduce a man with three buttocks.

Okay, new question...

What is the capital of Assyria?
