Robert Harris - Imperium, about the roman lawyer Cicero, its a fiction buts its based on largely true events. I did a set text of his for A level latin and really liked it which is why I chose it.

Awh love 1984. Used to be my fave. But I have a new one: flowers for Algernon. Best. Book. Ever. At least for now. Man I'm doing so much reading right now. Aside from re-reading a bunch of Douglas Adams, the Kite runner, and Through the Looking Glass, I'm doing loads for school. An average of 100 pages a day or so. We've read City of God, Confessions, First two books of Institutes, Ad Herennium, On Rhetoric, Elements, Free will and Salvation by Luther and Erasmus, and a bunch more. I love my school.

Flowers for Algernon. I read that back in... 8th grade, I think? It made me cry... There was a movie too, right? I know we watched something with the same story, although I think the film was called Charley.

Not saying that 1984 was a bad book, because it's very well written and provides very, VERY strong imagery. It's just really messed up, the whole subject matter.
People can, and DO, behave that way to each other. I think that's what I find most disturbing.

The last book I read was The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler. It was awesome.

Before that, I read The Road by Cormac McCarthy, which was really good/depressing. I can't wait for the movie, when it comes out*.

*If it is actually released. I was waiting all November for it to come out, dang it!

ATM I'm halfway through:

Return of the King
Sherlock holmes volume 2
Life With Jeeves
Dandelion Fire (By ND Wilson, my rhetoric teacher)
Ray Bradbury short stories book
2 Corinthians
Calvin's Institutes

And they're all fantastic.

Hooray for short attention spans.
