No. Absolutely not.

IMHO people get offended way too easily.

LOL
It doesn't offend me. It's just been so over-used in my direction by a certain individual that every time I see it, it genuinely makes my blood boil.
No harm done though. :)

I remember reading once some theories of how it came about, can't remember any now though.
I suppose the question is, is it meant to be offensive? If it is then yeah. I don't like patrotism at the best of times and when I hear Ozzies hating on Brits it makes me hate them. Like the thing about the Oz tv comp. charging so much for the rights to screen the winning kick in the rugby world cup 'cause they don't want brits to see it. That's so petty and spiteful and smug and really gets under my skin. I've hated Oz for that since I heard about. They're like babies! There rant over, obviously you take people as you find them on an individual level.

You're as insane as you were yesterday. There was an automatic censor on the word a while ago. A certain authority removed it, for reasons I couldn't begin to speculate on.

come now, is there any need to surreptitiously point fingers?

this "certain authority" (me) removed it because you'd vacated the premises, and you were the only one who was offended by the world "pom", or variants thereof. no need to subject others to unnecessary censorship. just like the prescription drug word filters.
