I just had silly idea for a Python-based challenge - to count how many different animals are referenced in all four series of the Flying Circus. You could also record the number of times the same animal reappears - for instance, penguins, parrots, sheep and fish seem to recur quite strongly. This just occurred to me because I've realised that the Pythons seem to be obsessed with animals, and many of their ideas revolve around them.

So if any has a bit of time to waste, they could have a go at spotting how many times they pop up. It must be in the hundreds!

Mice (That play the Bells of St Mary when hit very hard with a hammer)

Penguins (the exploding penguin on top of the TV; the giant penguin in Scott of the Sahara; are penguins more intelligent than people?)
Parrots (dead parrot; news/drama for parrots)
Fish (fish slapping; fish license; jugged fish in 'Salvation Fuzz'; there are fish mentioned in the pet shop transformations sketch)

Although I'm sure there's more fish in Python than that...

While not technically Python, Basil the Rat deserves a quick mention
for providing one of the funniest moments in Fawlty Towers
(as if it were even possible to rank that series).

<i>Would you care for a rat?</i> [:D]

Subject of much Ozymandias-style poetry
and beloved pet of Chris Quinn, or was it Michael Ellis?
